Hello! We're so excited that you're thinking about applying for an Elevate Fellowship. Please note that our application form is open year round, but consideration begins in April of each year, with interviews immediately scheduled on a rolling basis. All potential Fellows must:

commit to at least 6 hours per week of community service in local schools, up to twelve hours for Fellows with one year or less remaining in their undergraduate programs,
reside or attend school within the greater Bay Area, with the ability to complete community service at partner schools within the San Jose, Oakland, and San Francisco metro areas,
be undergraduate students graduating after May 2026,
experience financial hardship in paying for college, including both unmet need great than $8,000 and a household income below Low Income AMI, and
are able to attend a two-day in-person pre-service training retreat in August 2025.

Program Service and Training

Elevate will require you to volunteer in-person at a local middle or high school for ~5 hours per week during the school day (typically Mondays-Fridays from 8am-4pm). In addition, you will be required to attend preservice training (~20 hours in 3 weeks, hybrid) and a virtual 1.5 hour training each week on a weekday evening (typically between 5pm-9pm) for the next year. Will you be able to commit to managing these obligations with your schedule?

You will be responsible for transporting yourself to and from the school site where you volunteer. While we will make every effort to pair you with a convenient school site, you may need to travel up to 10 miles or 30 minutes to your school site. How will you transport yourself?

I have a car on campus and can drive to the school site.I can borrow a car from a friend or carpool on a regular basis.I have a bike, scooter, or other transportation tool that can travel up to 5 miles.I am comfortable taking public transit (BART, buses, etc.) and walking to my school site.Transportation is a concern for me.
